Royal City Hunt Club

Royal City is located approximately 2.5 hours east of Seattle and 2 hours west of Spokane, in the heart of Washington's beautiful farm country. The Royal Slope – the broader area in which Royal City is located – runs from approximately the Columbia River at Vantage on the west to Othello on the east.

The population of Royal City is 1,845 (2003 statistic). The town is home to the Royal School District with three schools: elementary, middle and high school.

The Royal Slope developed largely as a result of the Columbia Basin Project in the mid-1960s which delivered water from Grand Coulee Dam for irrigating the semi-arid region that receives just eight inches of rainfall on average each year (source: The Weather Channel). Royal City was officially incorporated on Feb. 14, 1962.

The Royal Slope is home to a wide variety of crops, including row crops such as wheat, corn, alfalfa hay, grass hay, mint, potatoes, beans, onions and peas; as well as apples, cherries, pears, wine grapes, peaches, blueberries and more.
